Wow, this is my first piece that I had to put under the "mature content" warning...

Background

Well I've really developed a big interest towards the secret weapon programs and the occultism of the Third Reich, and this piece illustrates one of the top secret devices the Germans allegedly built during the war (or rather the story of it as a whole).
Hardcore military historians may hate me for this one. >_>

The device was described by Polish journalist Igor Witkowski to be approximetely 2 meters wide, 3-4 meters tall and shaped like a bell, hence it's codename to the Germans; "Die Glocke" - "The Bell"
The Bell contained two counter rotating cylinders that were fueled by a highly radioactive, mercury-like substance known as "Xerum 525", that would glow purple when activated.
The exact purpouse of The Bell is unknown, tough there has been speculations from antigravity to time-travel.

Now here is the scary part: The Bell was considered so important to the Reich that the only people who knew it's purpouse, the 62 scientists who worked on it, were excecuted by the SS and buried in a mass grave.

To this day, nobody knows the true purpouse of the Bell, neither does anyone know it's current location or if it even exists for that matter.

Just imagine the consequences should this Wunderwaffe fall in the wrong hands...

Personal Comments

Well what can I say about the artistic aspect here, I've been working on this piece for at least 2 months, and this is only my first decent, fully shaded digital piece with a background, done with my tablet.
I guess I'm pretty content, I tried to cram in as much detail as I could , and in the end I just thought screw it, I'm done!

And yes, logically, this piece makes no sense whatsoever.
First off, the scientist would never have been excecuted, nor buried next to the bell.
Secondly, giving that The Bell would emit strong radiation, the Germans would be wearing radiation suits instead of gasmasks (how the hell is that gonna help? ).

But I didn't want to limit myself artistically to facts, what I wanted to do here was illustrate the story itself, I wanted the execution team to look like faceless murderers that the viewer would fear, therefore I thought the gasmasks along with the SS uniforms and stahlhelms were crucial.

PS: The metal band "Cage" wrote an absolutely amazing song about The Bell: [link] have a listen and check out the brilliant lyrics if you're interested! I listened to it about 20 times in a row while working on this and I still haven't grown tired of it!
Also, there lies a secret message in the runes, the Futhark should help you solve it.
