"Jake is 24 years old, he lives with his mother and works at the E. Ronald's chain of fast food restaurants.
He thinks his life is rather uninteresting and pointless an he often finds himself envying the luxurious life of Travis, whom he used to attend high-school with.

Sometimes the grass just seems greener on the other side."


This is a graduation project that was produced at Yrkesakademin i Österbotten in a span of 4 months. It was animated in 'Pencil' a free but limited animation software.
The animation tells a short story that many people should be able to relate to. It's a story about contrast and irony, that's still open for interpretation.
It also attempts to make two-dimensional characters to seem like real and believable persons instead of cartoon characters.
Stylistically, a lot of inspiration was taken from David Fincher's 'Fight Club', both in terms of atmosphere and the structure of the narrative. Jake's voice was also heavily based on that of Edward Norton.

@05:00I dunno how I feel about the ending of this movie. I know what's going on, but is having the perfect life, only to have it cut off at age 24 really a good thing? At least Jake still has time to move out eventually.

Wow...just wow.The animation world needs people like you.Amazing film!You did a great job with the voice of Jake and I am sure you have heard this before,but the ending was fantastic!The sudden plunge into absolute terror caught me off guard!Stunning work Pene!
