We did it Johnson, we've indeed discovered a new world!
Finally I get to post this here! This is an etching I did a couple of months ago during our graphics course, the theme I chose was "Dreamworlds". Since I had to use the etching and aquatint techniques for this piece, I thought it'd be cool give it a kind of Jules Verne 19th century fantasy feeling to it, I also took a lot of inspiration from the Spyro the Dragon series. I was originally going to have the englishmen fly a steampunk styled blimp airship, but I lacked the skills, time and patience required to pull it off. I also printed some variations of the same scene as we could only use two colors for this assigment (1 color per copper plate). I was originally going to post the second variation (my original vision of this piece), as a stand alone image alongside this deviation, but once I had put them together like this, I thought they worked so well together that the stand alone picture would be overshadowed by this compilation.
Oh well, enjoy, and feedback is always greatly appreciated!

The Discovery by ~Pene is a beautiful example of how a different colour can totally change the feel of a print. (
